Tooth Whitening Strips Review
Whitening strips for teeth whitening purposes have gained some notoriety as of late for being an inexpensive and effective way for people looking for some teeth whitening alternatives besides the gels and dental procedures. In order to understand this option we will discuss the Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How of these whitening strips on this page.
Who:
The who is an easy one; any person that is looking for a tooth whitening procedure.
What:
Whitening strips are a thin strip that is applied directly to your teeth. The primary ingredient in most of these products is hydrogen peroxide. To use them is a simple procedure where you place the whitening strip directly on your teeth for a specified amount of time.
Where:
As stated above these strips are applied directly on the teeth for tooth whitening. No mold or gel is needed for this product. Teeth whitening is achieved by direct contact with the teeth.
When:
When using whitening strips it is basically up to you although most wouldn't want to wear them at work or anything. Most people choose to use this procedure for teeth whitening right before bedtime.
Why:
Whitening strips are an inexpensive option for teeth whitening. Many budget conscious people feel this is their best option for teeth whitening.
How:
Whitening strips contain hydrogen peroxide which penetrates tooth enamel and oxidizes the particles between teeth that cause staining. This will make the particles turn white, thereby whitening the appearance of teeth.
Effectiveness:
Whitening strips do not appear to be that effective in whitening teeth the way most people hope. While many have had some effectiveness by a couple of shades, there are many other tooth whitening products that have shown much better results.
Advantages/Disadvantages
The real advantage of whitening strips is that they can be used fast and are easily available. Other than that, whitening strips just do not seem to work as well as most other procedures.
The biggest disadvantage of whitening strips is that it is quite difficult to whiten the grooves of teeth. Also if one is not digitally agile they can be difficult to use. Because of the glycerin in the strips which is used to draw water out of the tooth, many people have also complained that teeth are very sensitive after using whitening strips for teeth whitening.
Bottom Line:
Whitening strips are the least recommended method of whitening teeth on our site. While as stated previously some people have had a modicum of success, there are just too many other procedures for teeth whitening that have shown better results.
