Being toothless is now starting to be the trend for old people. Studies say that about 30 percent of adults who are older than 65 no longer have natural teeth and rely mostly on dentures. The use of dentures may further cause problems because they are not as efficient in chewing and may avoid fresh fruits and vegetables to go for softer foods.
There’s some hope in trying to prevent this uncool fad of being toothless. Medic-aid, although has certain limitations is trying to provide a program for low income and needy people help provide health insurance. Although dental insurance hasn’t been high on their priority list, as they see that this new fad of being toothless is somewhat cool.
The problem with older adults is that they experience dental decay on the crowns of their teeth and the roots as well. Periodontal disease and tooth decay is also what causes these old people to loose their teeth.
The periodontal disease’s severity only increases as one gets older. Men are also the most likely person to have it. So men, if you’re listening start brushing your teeth properly. This disease is disgusting as it makes the tooth loose 6mm of attachment to the gum.
Oral cancer should be taken more seriously, especially by older people. 8,000 mostly adult people are killed by this disease. The worst part about being old is that you take more medication. You’ll be thinking that this medication will help you out, but they only cause further problems. There are more than 400 over the counter medications can cause dry mouth and most old people will have to take this medication 8 times a day on the average.
Taking these drugs will cause the saliva to dry up which is bad. Saliva helps enable to prevent oral disease as it contains antimicrobial elements and minerals that help fight tooth decay.
To be able maintain health when one enters that age he should consider the following advices.
• Use fluoride to protect your teeth. Use tooth pastes with fluorides
and try drinking fluorinated water.

Brush and floss properly and regularly.
•
Even if you have no natural teeth try getting professional health care. As
these helps in finding the pre-cancerous cells.
•
Avoid tobacco and limit alcohol. Both of these can cause problems with oral
health individually and there will be more problems if they are combined.
•
Get the caregivers to help you out in oral hygiene. Just don’t be the
old dirty bastards to take advantage of the situation.

If you think you’re getting old and making a simple reaction about
not being able to taste right, have a dentist or a doctor check you up first.
You might just be 30 years old and you’re just overacting about your
age.
Giving these advices makes me sound like I’m your mom. But when you’re
at that age, you should be responsible already of your oral hygiene and health
to be bale to have a longer life. But if you’d rather have those
gold teeth those rappers have, there is no problem in destroying your teeth.
