Thinking of Bleaching?

Is it just me or are there fewer people that are willing to smile more. If there’s any reason to blame why people are starting to frown a lot, I think it’s not because of the burdens they carry. I think that they are just afraid to smile to show their yellowish teeth.

Maybe bleaching teeth is the answer that we are all looking for. Bleaching is able to work because of the urea peroxide (not urine, so don’t try this with your urine if your on budget) also known as the 10% carbamide peroxide present in most whitening agents. The contact of this substance with water makes it able to release the hydrogen to make the teeth white.

So don’t try using white-outs or white melted crayons because it’s not the color itself that whitens your teeth, it’s the effect of the hydrogen. Note to self: don’t apply white-outs again.

The yellowish teeth that some people have may have been caused by coffee, tea, smoking or simply darkened through age. These types of yellowish color, brown and orange respond better with lightening. Results may not really be that good for teeth that have become gray due to smoking, tetracycline or fluorosis. Bleaching may be discouraged if you have been plagued with periodontal disease or teeth with worn enamel or just have sensitive teeth.

When you go to the dentist, the dentist will try to see what type of bleaching is best for you. If you want faster results then lighting is what you would prefer. There will be a laser used or an in-office bleaching. The other option is to have it done at home supervised by a dentist because it is more economical.

If you don’t choose the laser bleaching the dentist will then make a personalized mouthpiece. It will be thin and lightweight to make it seem that there is nothing in your mouth at all. Just don’t forget to remove it when you’re eating. You’ll also receive the bleaching materials together with some instructions. You can either choose to apply at least 2-4 hours a week for 6 weeks or every night when you sleep for 14 days.

There have been no bad side effects of bleaching after studies were conducted. But try to choose bleaching products that have the seal of approval by the American Dental Association. Irritation and tooth sensitivity is only normal during the bleaching period and will soon be gone gradually when treatment ends.

To be realistic the effects of bleaching can only last up to 5 years. But it depends on the personal habits of the person as well (smoking, drinking coffee, etc.). If you think about doing this again after the first it will not be that costly anymore because you can still be able to use the mouth guard.

The results will also vary from person to person and case to case. Usually the success depends on the satin involved and the person’s religious application of the bleaching materials.

That is why I have come to admire people who share their smile even they have no front teeth. Because even though they’re teeth may be gone or yellow, they always remember to make us all laugh with our problems.
